Pascal Cannot Train For Six
Weeks

MONTRÉAL - Former WBC light heavyweight champion of the
world, the Montrealer Jean Pascal, won’t be able to train
for the next six weeks. Pascal (30-3-1) is suffering of
right hand ligament’s damage.
In the third round of his fight with the Cuban Yunieski
Gonzalez (16-1-0) Saturday evening in the ring of the
Mandalay Bay Arena in Las Vegas, Pascal felt serious pain to
the right hand.
After the bout, he talked about this injury. He saw his
doctor in Montreal Monday, and the diagnosis was a
ligament’s damages.
Pascal won this bout by unanimous decision in 10 rounds
(three identical scores of 96-94 by the official judges),
but most of the boxing experts around the world were
allowing the win to Gonzalez.
After that the ring announcer Vern Buffer confirmed this
controversial Pascal’s win, Gonzalez was crying and saying
he was been of a clear rob.
“I can understand how much Gonzalez was frustrated after his
first lost in pro boxing, and after a so intense fight, but
no doubt in my mind, I won this battle, said Pascal
Wednesday morning in Montréal. I am absolutely persuaded
that I connected more power shots than him. In matter fact,
the stats of the fight are showing it clearly. Anyway, I
will take a rest of few weeks to give the time to my right
hand to cure properly, and I will come back in the gym
before the end of August. As I said it several times in the
last weeks, I hope to get another shot for a world title the
sooner as possible. We will see.”
Pascal has been involved in six world championships bouts in
his pro boxing career.
