Abel Sanchez Believes He Has
The Best Fighter On The Planet

NEW YORK - The Californian trainer Abel Sanchez believes
seriously that he has a diamond of 160 pounds in his hands
with Gennady Golovkin in his team.
He believes that his fighter in the boxer number one on the
planet now. We can presume he is considering the fact that
Floyd Mayweather Jr. , who was ranked the best fighter pound
for pound in the world for several years, won’t fight
anymore.
“Gennady is definitively the best middleweight on the
planet, and I really believe he is now the best fighter
pound for pound in the world, said Sanchez at the final
press conference of the bout Gennady-Lemieux Wednesday
afternoon at the Madison Square Garden Theatre in New York.
I respect the Lemieux’s talent and his determination, but
this kid is dreaming if he thinks seriously he can beat my
fighter Saturday evening. Gennady has everything to be a
winner, to be a world champion. He has a great technique, a
solid jaw, a great stamina and he his punching extremely
hard. No doubt in my mind Gennady will still undefeated
Saturday evening. It’s a crucial bout, it’s an unification
world titles fights, and more the challenge is big, more a
fight is important, and more Gennady find a way to perform
in the action. It’s what I can call a master of the ring.”
Golovkin agrees with his trainer on the fact that more a
fight is significant, more he is finding a way to perform.
“It’s absolutely true, more a fight is important, more I
fight intelligently, and more I fight with energies, said
Golovkin. And the fear to lose makes me a lot of more
dangerous in the action. Lemieux is great fighter, probably
the biggest challenge for me in the middleweight division,
then, I needed a perfect mental and physical preparation in
the last months to face this great challenge, and I got it.
I am sure the fight will be intense from the beginning to
the end. The one who will be the craftiest fighter, and the
one who will be the most energetic boxer, will win the bout.
And obviously, I am sure I will be the one. I hope my fans
will be impressed by my performance, but I can promise them
to give my 100% to achieve what I need to achieve.”
Golovkin (33-0-0) is on the way to dispute his 15th world
championship bouts. He won his first 14 world championships
bouts by KO or TKO. All the boxing writers on the
international scene are agree to say that Golovkin is
absolutely exceptional on the ring.
Lemieux replied to Golovkin: “All the experts in boxing are
considering you are the middleweight number one on the
planet, then, it’s extremely exciting for me to take this
huge challenge. For sure, Golovkin, you will be surprise to
see what I can achieve in the ring now. I lost two fights in
2011, it’s true, but in the last four years, I made
incredible progress in technique in working on a daily basis
with my trainer Marc Ramsay. Never I have been so good
technically and strategically and I know i still one of the
most explosive puncher on the international scene. No doubt
in my mind, I will cause the surprise of the year of the
international scene Saturday evening. I am positive I have
now the maturity to win mega fights like this one. You will
understand what I mean will be fight will be over. I know I
have now the weapons to take challenges of this amplitude. I
know the fight will be intense and tough, but I am not
afraid to suffer in the action. I am now a fighter of the
«major leagues» boxing…”
Lemieux i(34-2-0) s persuaded that Sanchez believes it will
be an easy fight for Golovkin. “No doubt in my mind, Sanchez
is under-estimate me, said Lemieux. Because I lost two
fights in 2011 (against the Mexican Marco Antonio Rubio and
the Montrealer Joachim Alcine), Sanchez is positive I am not
of the Golovkin’s caliber. He will have a hell of surprise
when the fight will start Saturday evening.”
The former famous world champion, the Californian Oscar De
La Hoya, the big boss of the Golden Boy Promotions
organization, is clearly proud of his decision to sign
Lemieux a year ago. “The Golovkin’s clan has absolutely no
idea how much David is talented and determinate, said De La
Hoya. David will surprise the world Saturday. When he became
IBF middleweight champion of the world in June in Montréal,
David told me he was ready to challenge the biggest names of
the 160 pounds division, and he told me the truth. As soon I
told him I got a deal to organize a unification world titles
bouts with Golovkin, he was extremely enthusiast and excited
like a kid in a toy’s store. Yes, David will become an
international super star Saturday evening, when he gonna win
the most important fight of his career, and probably the
most significant fight on the international scene this year.
And now I am agree with my partner, Bernard Hopkins, who
believes David gonna win by KO or TKO. David is the most
powerful puncher of the middleweight division. And more he
is fighting, more he is proving he has now the maturity to
be a star on the international boxing scene.”
Lemieux has only one world championship bout of experience…
against 14 for Golovkin (33-0-0). “Golovkin was the master
of the middleweight division in the last two years, it’s now
the Lemieux’s time, said Camille Estephan, the Lemieux’s
manager and the boss of The Eye Of The Tiger Management
organization. I am positive David is right when he is saying
he has now the maturity to beat the biggest names in the
middleweight division. He did fantastic progress in the last
four years, technically, strategically and energetically. He
proved his guts and confidence in accepting with no
hesitation this unification titles bout with Golovkin, who
is ranked actually the best middleweight in the world.”
Golovkin is WBA and WBC interim middleweight champion of the
world. The Las Vegas bookies had established Golovkin
favourite to win by… 16 to one. This HBO boxing show will be
presented in front of full house.
