Bermane Stiverne Could Fight
Just Before Golovkin vs. Lemieux In New York

MONTRÉAL - Bermane Stiverne’s manager, the Montrealer
promoter-manager Camille Estephan, mentioned Thursday
morning that Stiverne, a former WBC heavyweight champion of
the world, could fight in the semi-main event of the October
17th show presented at Madison Square Garden in New York.
The main event will be an IBF and WBA unification
middleweight world titles fights between David Lemieux
(34-2-0), from Montréal, and Gennady Golovkin (33-0-0), from
Kazakstan.
The main fights will be televised by HBO.
Stiverne has strong chances to face Luis Ortiz (22-0-0),
this Cuban living in Miami who won by KO in the first round
against the Byron Poley (27-19-1), from St-Joseph, Missouri,
June 20th at Bell Centre in Montréal, just before that
Lemieux became new IBF middleweight champion of the world,
with a win by unanimous decision against the french African
Hassan N’dam N’Jikam (31-2-0).
Stiverne would fight for the first time since the moment he
lost his WBC crown. January 17th at the MGM Grand in Las
Vegas, Stiverne (24-2-1) lost by unanimous decision against
Deontay Wilder (33-0-0). who became the new WBC heavyweight
king.
After the bout, Stiverne was hospitalized for serious
dehydration problems. But he is feeling perfectly since few
months, and apparently, he is working extremely hard in the
gym, to get back on the winning track.
