Camille Estephan: "Stiverne
Hopes For Rematch With Wilder"

MONTRÉAL - The promoter-manager Camille Estephan, a
Montrealer who is Bermane Stiverne’s manager, said his
fighter hopes and deserves a rematch with the WBC
heavyweight champion of the world, Deontay Wilder.
January 17th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Stiverne
(23-2-1) lost his WBC title, when Wilder (33-0-0), a fighter
from Alabama, beat him by unanimous decision in 12 rounds.
“Bermane hopes to get a rematch with Wilder, and our
organization, The Eye Of The Tiger Management, believes he
deserves it, said Estephan. Bermane lost against Wilder
because he was suffering of severe dehydration during the
week of the fight, and it’s certainly our fault. If there is
a rematch, I can promise you his preparation will be a lot
of better, less exhausting. Bermane is feeling good now, and
I know his desire to go back in the ring is real and
serious.”
But Estephan knows that a rematch is not possible for this
year, because Wilder is planning now to face one of the
biggest names of the heavyweight division.
Wilder was in Montréal last week-end, to support the
Montrealer Jean Pascal (29-3-1). Pascal, who was trying to
dethrone the Russian Sergey Kovalev (27-0-1) as WBA, WBO and
IBF light heavyweight champion of the world Saturday evening
in the ring of the Bell Centre,, lost by TKO in the eight
round.
