Puerto Rico's Jayson Velez Wins

Los Angeles California, Golden Boy Promotions showcased its
4th edition of rising stars in this boxing event at LA FIGHT
CLUB. The classic showdown match-up between Mexico versus
Puerto Rico exhibited Daniel “Huracan” Ramirez of
Guadalajara, Mexico against Jayson “Star” Velez of Juncos
Puerto Rico in a 10 round featherweight main event. In an 8
round co-main event bout, featured LA native Carlos “The
Solution” Morales against Emmanuel Gonzalez of the Bronx,
NY.
In the epic main event battle of the night claiming the
outright victory was Jayson Velez after 10 rounds of an
electrifying bout. The judges scored the bout: 1x- 99-90,
2x- 98-91.
J. Velez scored and early 2nd round knockdown with a left
hook set up by a stunning right power punch. It appeared J.
Velez was about to score an early bout victory over rival
opponent Daniel Ramirez as he survive the round. This lead
the bout to go the distance as “Huracan” Ramirez did just
that with a courageous heart storming his way back into the
match. In several rounds he was the aggressor landing the
first big punches and counter punching to remain in the
bout.
Despite his courageous-warrior like effort demonstrated in
the ring by D. Ramirez, in the closing rounds of the bout he
was outpunched by J. Velez landing the harder punches. At
the end of the night in another classic and brilliant boxing
battle the 3 judges’ awarded J. Velez the victory.
In the co-main event bout, local fighter Carlos “The
Solution” Morales of Highland Park, California remains
undefeated. After going the distance of 8 rounds he wins the
bout in unanimous decision fashion over veteran opponent
Emmanuel Gonzalez of Bronx, NY; scorecards read 80-72,
78-74, & 77-75.
In the opening round of the bout C. Morales immediately
asserted his punches by firing away right power shots that
scored. He displayed agile movement that allowed him to slip
his opponents punches. Utilized great hand speed to counter
punch and neutralize his opponent, apply pressure connecting
hooks and body punches that scored. Including, several times
he lured E. Gonzalez, picked his punches to land, retreated
and exploded being the busier puncher. Resulting as the keys
to victory in the night’s co-main event bout as he improves
his professional record to 9-1-3 (3 KOs).
In his second appearance at LA Fight Club, the TV opening
bout featured 19 year-old Christian “Chimpa” Gonzalez. He
wins the bout after 6 rounds via a thrilling unanimous
decision over Darryl Hayes of Houston, TX; judges’ scorecard
- 2x: 60-52 & 1x: 59-53. Improves his professional boxing
record to 10-0 (9 KOs).
In his profession debut Pablo “The Shark” Rubio of Whittier,
California wins via KO in round 1 in which the referee waved
off the bout at the official time of 2:16. Several seconds
and punches into the opening of round 1, P. Rubio connected
a sharp left hook that scored the first knockdown. The bout
concluded with another hard left hook resulting in the
second knockdown of Martin Regalado of Ensenada, Mexico.
Rafael Gramajo of Los Angeles wins in four rounds via
unanimous decision over opponent Pablo Cupul, Merida,
Mexico.
