By Daniel Cloutier

MONTRÉAL - The president and promoter of the InterBox Group, Jean Bédard, should confirm soon that Mikael Zewski, a boxer from Trois-Rivières, Québec, will defend his NABF welterweight North American championship March 14th at Bell Centre in Montréal, just before the presentation of the WBA, WBO and IBF light heavyweight championship of the world opposing the Russian Sergey Kovalev (26-0-1) and the Montrealer Jean Pascal (29-2-1). Bédard is expecting to announced the Zewski’s opponent next week.

Zewski (26-0-0) became NABF 147 pounds champion June 28th last year, in Omaha, Nebraska, in beating Prince Doku Jr. (18-6-0), from Ghana, by KO in less than four rounds. December 13th in Las Vegas, Zewski made a first successful defence on his North American title, with a win by majority decision over Jeremy Bryan (17-5-0), from Paterson, New Jersey. Zewski is actually ranked seventh contender by the WBO in the welterweight division, and 12th by the WBC.
