Cloutier’s Canada Corner
Beterbiev vs. Prieto Set For
Dec. 23 At The Lac Leamy Casino
By Daniel Cloutier
MONTRÉAL - The Montrealer Russian Artur Beterbiev will be
back in action December 23rd at the Lac Leamy Casino,
located at few miles of Ottawa, the Canadian capital.
Beterbiev (10-0-0), the only light heavyweight to be ranked
in the «Top 10» in the world with only 10 pro fights of
experience, will be opposed to the WBC latino’s champion,
the Argentinian Isidro Ranoni Pietro (26-1-3), who is ranked
10th contender by the WBO in the 175 pounds division.
Beterbiev is ranked second contender by the IBF, third by
the WBC and the WBA, and fourth by the WBO. “Artur is
certainly the most dangerous challenger for all the light
heavyweights champions of the world, said the promoter of
the GYM Group, Yvon Michel. He is fighting Pietro to stay
active in waiting the call for a world championship bout.
Pietro is a very agressive and solid opponent, another good
test for Artur on the international scene.”
The Montrealer physical educator Andre Kulesza is working
every mornings with Beterbiev. “I worked with several
olympic athletes since 30 years, and believe me, I rarely
worked with a better athlete than Artur Beterbiev, said
Kulesza. He is always in great shape and he is training
intensively day after day in my gym. With his shape and
technical boxing talent, I am sure it’s just a matter of
time before the moment who he will be world champion. I am
very enthusiast to follow his boxing career, and I will
certainly go in Gatineau in december to watch his bout with
Isidro Ranoni Pietro.”
Bernard Barré, the scout of the GYM Group, the man who
recruited Beterbiev for the organization, see Beterbiev as
an exceptional talent. “I still believe that Beterbiev will
dispute a world championship fight when a world champion
will be forced to face him, said Barré. Artur is real menace
on the international scene, and all the promoters in the
world know it. He is very close to become of the biggest
stars of boxing on the international scene.”
