Butler Believes The Next Four
Years Will Be
The Greatest Moments Of His Boxing Career

MONTRÉAL — The Montrealer Steven Butler is persuaded that
the next four years will be the greatest years of his boxing
career. Ranked nine contender by the IBF in the super
welterweight, Butler (17-0-1), the IBF Youth-Junior champion
of the world (for fighters of 21 years old or less), will
face the Canadian Janks Trotter (10-3-1), from Calgary,
Alberta, Saturday evening in the ring of Bell Centre.
The fight Butler-Trotter will be presented just before the
main event, which will opposed the Montrealer middleweight
David Lemieux (35-3-0) to the Argentinian Cristian Fabian
Rios (21-7-3). Butler and Trotter will fight for the IBF 154
pounds North American championship.
“I watched Trotter in action on videos, than, I really know
what to expect from him Saturday evening, said Butler
Tuesday at the 40 Westt Restaurant in Pointe-Claire, in the
West Island of Montréal. He is a solid puncher, he is a very
aggressive fighter, but I not worry at all. I am sure I hit
harder than him. I still believe I am the strongest puncher
of the super welterweight division on the international
scene. The fact that Trotter is an natural attacker, will
give me the chances to hit him solidly in each round. We
will see how many rounds he will be able to resist to my
attacks.”
When we asked him if he hopes to be involved in a world
championship fight in 2017, Butler said: “I will let my
promoter decide it. When he will tell me I have enough
experience and maturity to go to the top, I will go. Anyway,
I am persuaded that the next four years will be the most
exciting and productive years of my boxing career. No matter
if I fight for a world title in 2017, 2018 or 2019, I don’t
want to waste my first chance to become world champion and I
want absolutely to stay world champion for several years.”
Rénald Boivest, Butler’s trainer, said his fighter is more
than ready for this challenge. “Trotter is a dangerous
puncher, he is very mean in the ring, but no doubt that my
fighter is ready for this challenge, said Boisvert. Steven
got a great training camp, one of the longest of his pro
boxing career (two months and a half), then, he will
certainly be a real warrior in this bout. Steven said that
the next four years will be the most glorious years of his
career, and I am sure he said the truth. Steven has a very
special talent. He has absolutely everything to become a
world champion. In 2017, he will face more and more
dangerous opponents, his chin will be tested each time,
then, we will see how will react. However, I am positive he
will prove he has all the weapons necessaries to go to the
top. He got to stay undefeated and get more experience each
time he will be in the ring. He is so hungry of success.”
The promoter of The Eye Of The Tiger Management Group,
Camille Estephan, believes he has a jewel in hand with
Butler. “Steven move up from the 15th place to the nine
place in the IBF ratings, and I am sure his name will be
soon in the «Top five», said Estephan. Steven is
definitively one of the greatest natural talent of the
Canadian pro boxing. In the years to come, he will play a
major role on the international scene. Saturday evening,
just before the main event, Butler gonna face a fighter that
nobody is enthusiast to face. Trotter hits extremely hard,
and he is so aggressive. I am sure the crowd will be more
than excited when Butler and Trotter will be nose to nose in
the ring. We will present a great boxing card Saturday, and
the two most important fights of the evening, Lemieux-Rios
and Butler-Trotter, will create fireworks in the Bell
Centre. I am positive the spectators who will assist to the
show, will talk long time about the two last bouts of the
evening. It’s crucial for us to present a great main event,
a great semi-final and a great undercard. Its the way to
keep our clientele.”
