Fighter Than Julio Cesar Chavez Jr."

By Daniel Cloutier

MONTRÉAL - Badou Jack (22-1-1), a boxer from Sweden, is persuaded that his fight with the Montrealer Romanian Lucian Bute will be intense and spectacular April 30th in Washington. The WBC super middleweight champion of the world believe Bute (31-3-0) is a better fighter than the Mexican Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.(49-2-1).

Jack was preparing himself to face Chavez when he got the confirmation that his next opponent will be Bute (32-3-0), a former IBF super middleweight champion of the world.

“No doubt in my mind, Bute is a better fighter than Chavez, said Jack in a press conference held at the D.C. Armory Centre in Washington Friday. I saw his fight with the British James De Gale last November in Québec City, and for me, it was one of the best fight on the year on the international boxing scene. I am positive the boxing fans will assist to an intense and spectacular bout April 30th.”

Bute is clearly enthusiastic to get this chance to become back world champion. “Yes, I am extremely happy to get this other chance to become back world champion, said Bute. And I am sure I will be new WBC champion of the world April 30th. I have a great training camp and I believe I will be even better I was Last November against De Gale.”

Bute lost by unanimous decision against De Gale (22-1-0), the IBF super middleweight champion of the world, but that night, he got one of the best performance of his pro boxing career. Bute gave a great opposition to De Gale from the beginning to the end of the bout.

Bute is trained by the brothers Howard and Otis Grant at the Monster GYM in the West Island of Montréal.

Pierre Duc, the InterBox vice-president, said: “Lucian was dreaming since many months to get another shot for a world title, and finally, this opportunity will come up April 30th. It’s absolutely great. Lucian is so determinate to become back world champion, I am positive he will do it in Washington.”

Stephen Espinoza, the president of Showtime, said: “We are extremely happy to televise this bout Bute-Jack, it will be a great match up, and I can tell you that we will do everything possible to involve the winner in an unification titles bout in the months to come.”

Just before the bout Bute-Jack, De Gale will precede to the defense of his IBF 168 pounds belt, in facing the Mexican Rogelio Medina (36-6-0), his mandatory challenger.
