Jorge Ochenduszka: "Lemieux Is
Very Good,
But He Will Have The Surprise Of His Life"
By Daniel Cloutier
MONTRÉAL - Jorge Ochenduszka, Christian Fabian Rios trainer,
has the conviction that his fighter will cause a huge
surprise October 22nd in the ring of Bell Centre. Rios
(21-7-3), an Argentinian southpaw, will face the Montrealer
David Lemieux (35-3-0) in the main event (10 rounds) of this
boxing show presented by the promoter-manager Camille
Estephan, the boss of The Eye Of The Tiger Management Group.
“No doubt that Lemieux is a very good fighter, but I am
positive my fighter will cause a huge surprise October 22nd,
said Ochenduszka Tuesday afternoon in a conference call.
Lemieux will have the surprise of his life. We all know that
Lemieux is looking for another participation to a world
title bout, but my fighter has the same ambition than him.
Christian knows he got to win October 22nd to get an
eventual shot for a world title. My fighter has a marvelous
training camp, maybe the best of his career, then, he will
be ready for this challenge. I am positive Christian will
impress the Montréal boxing fans when the first bell will
ring.”
Marc Ramsay, Lemieux’s trainer, said his fighter trained
with the intensity and the determination he showed before
his participation to world championships bouts. “David is
determinate to become back world champion, then, he knows he
got to stay undefeated in his next bouts, said Ramsay.
During the last two months, David trained with the same
intensity and determination he showed before his fights with
Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam and Gennady Golovkin. Rios a very tough
southpaw, I know it and David knows it. Lemieux is prepared
for 10 intense rounds, even he gonna try everything possible
to win before the 10th round. Trust me, David doesn’t take
this fight lightly.”
Lemieux became IBF middleweight (160 pounds) champion of the
world June 20th 2015 in the ring of the Bell Centre in
Montréal, in beating N’Jikam (34-2-0), a French African, by
unanimous decision in 12 rounds. October 17th, the same
year, Lemieux lost by TKO in the eighth round against
Gennady Golovkin (36-0-0), a star from Kazakstan, in an
unification of the IBF, WBC and WBA world titles.
“Yes, I am extremely determinate to become back world
champion, than, I gonna fight with my usual intensity and
determination October 22nd, said Lemieux. I know Rios is
coming in Montréal with the serious intention to surprise me
and improve his chances to get a shot for a world title. I
am taking him very seriously. I cannot afford a lost at this
stage of my boxing career. Rios is a very tough southpaw. He
never lost a fight by KO or TKO. I want to become the first
one to knock him out. It’s my intention to hurt him in every
rounds, in connecting him with great power shots. I cannot
wait the moment I will get out of my dressing room to walk
to the ring.”
Rios is clearly enthusiast to fight Lemieux in Montréal.
“Lemieux wants to use me to increase his chances to fight
soon in another world championship fight, but I am
determinate to surprise him, said Rios. I know I have the
weapons to surprise him. I am a very agressive fighter who
hit solidly with both hands. Some boxing fans believes I
cannot compete with Lemieux with a record of 21-7-3. My fans
in Argentina knows I started my pro boxing career very
showily, with a record of 5-5-2, but I never stopped to
improve my style and performances in the following years. i
know I have now the potential to fight on the international
scene. You will understand what I mean when the fight will
start October 22nd. Do you think seriously I would accept to
face David Lemieux if I would doubt of my chances to beat
him? Come on! I have now the potential and the maturity to
fight the best middleweights in the world. Lemieux is ranked
in the world, then, it’s a perfect opportunity for me. It
will be so exciting to beat Lemieux in front of his fans. I
want so much to be the bad guy in front of the Montrealers
October 22nd.”
Camille Estephan said the Montrealer boxing fans won’t be
disappointed October 22nd. “We will present a spectacular
boxing show, said Estephan. The main event and the undercard
will certainly generate good action for the crowd. No doubt
in my mind, the fight Lemieux-Rios will produce great
action. Both fighters are agressive, both can hit solidly,
then, the crowd will get a great time. If David wins that
bout, like we expect he will do, Oscar De La Hoya and I will
do everything possible to involve David in another
middleweight world champion bout in the months to come. When
he beat the American Glen Tapia by TKO last May in Las
Vegas, David proved his huge desire to fight in major bouts.
And David is so enthusiast to fight back in Montréal after
two fights in USA, in New York and Las Vegas. David wants so
much to impress his fans.”
Former champion of the world, De La Hoya, the big boss of
the Golden Boy Promotions organization, is the Lemieux’s
promoter. Lemieux is actually ranked fourth contender by the
WBC and the WBO in the middleweight division, and 7th by the
IBF. Rios is champion of Argentina. “David is part of the
elite of the middleweight division, and he will prove it
October 22nd and in his following bouts", said Estephan.
