Barré: "I Think That Lemieux Will Provoke One Or Two Knockdowns Then Win The Fight By Decision"

By Daniel: Cloutier

MONTRÉAL —— The man who signed David Lemieux as pro boxer in 2007, Bernard Barré, the scout of the GYM group in Montréal, believes that his former protégé will become back world champion next Saturday in the ring of Place Bell, a new arena located in Laval, the most important northern suburb of Montréal.

“I know very well Lemieux and Saunders,” said Barré. “ I saw them so many times in action. Lemieux, as you know, started his pro boxing career with us in 2007. Saunders? I covered him for the Canadian TV when he fought as member of the Great Britain squad at the Pekin Olympics in 2008. He was only 18 years old when he joined the Olympic British team. Its proving that he is an exceptional talent. And I saw him in action several times in pro boxing. What can expect next Saturday? A spectacular and close fight. Both are talented, both are very good technically, but I got to pick Lemieux as winner. Why? He is stronger physically that Saunders, and he is clearly a more destructive puncher than him. I really believe that Lemieux gonna provoked one or two knockdowns in this fight, and win it by unanimous decision. A lot of people in the Montréal boxing circle believe that Lemieux gonna win by KO or TKO, but like I said, I am expecting a fight which will go to the limit.”

Barré mentioned that he was impressed by the Saunders performance in 2014 against his countryman Chris Eubank, in a Commonwealth and European championship. “In 2014, Eubank was one of the best middleweights in the world, and Saunders beat him by split decision in England,” said Barré. “I saw the fight, and I got to admit that the Saunders performance impressed me that night. He fought intelligently technically and strategically in that bout. No doubt in my mind, it will be a big challenge for Lemieux Saturday evening. David will need to fight wisely, with a perfect concentration, from the beginning top the end. I know he is extremely motivated to become back world champion, then, i guess he will perform at his best.”

Barré believes that the winner will make big money in 2018. “Both have the hand of a safe, and the winner will open it in 2018 and get the money…” said Barré. The show will start at 5.00 PM.
