Jean Pascal: "I Am Ready For A War"

By Daniel Cloutier

MONTRÉAL - The Montrealer Jean Pascal will proceed to the first defense of his WBA Silver light heavyweight championship Thursday evening in Atlanta. Pascal (34-6-1) will face Badou Jack (22-2-3), a Swede living in Las Vegas.

“I am ready for a war,” said Pascal. “I know that Badou Jack is a good fighter, he has good technique, but I am ready for this challenge. I really believe I have the weapons to beat him.”

At his last bout, last August at the Barclays Centre in Brooklyn, Pascal caused a big surprise, in becoming the first fighter to beat the New Yorker Curtis Browne (23-1-0), and he won by technical decision (the fight has been stop because Browne a severe cut).
Jack is a popular name in Canada.

In 2018, in Toronto, Jack fought the WBC light heavyweight champion, the Montrealer southpaw Adonis Stevenson (29-2-1), and the bout finished by a draw.

“Several boxing fans believe that I can't beat Badiou Jack, but several of them said the same thing when I faced Browne in Brooklyn,” said Pascal. “I know I have the speed, the technique and the experience to win a bout of this importance.”

At the weigh in Friday evening in Atlanta, Pascal posted an official weight of 174.8 pounds, versus 174.6 for Jack.
