Beterbiev vs. Meng Postponed

MONTRÉAL - The promoter of the GYM Group, the Montrealer
Yvon Michel, and his partner Bob Arum, from Top Rank Inc
from Las Vegas. were supposed to present a WBC and IBF light
heavyweight (175 pounds) championship of the world March 28
th at the Videotron Centre in Québec City, between the
Montrealer Russian Artur Beterbiev (15-0-0) (the champion)
and the Chinese Fanlong Meng (15-0-0), but this event is
officially postponed.
“Considering that we are not allowed to draw more than 250
spectators per event, as long that this coronavirus
contamination will persist, we did not have any choice,”
said Bernard Barré, the scout of the GYM Group. “In the
circumstances, we were obliged to cancel the March 28th
boxing show. The event should move in USA, but at this
point, no site and no date have been decided. The promoters
will discuss of the situation in the weeks to come, and we
will see when this world championship bout will be
organized.”
