Jukembayev Will Fight Ricardo Lara
Today At The Montréal Casino

MONTRÉAL - Ranked eight contender by the IBF in the super
lightweight division (140 pounds), the Montrealer Batyr
Jukembayev, a fighter coming from Kazakstan, will be
involved in the main event of the pro boxing show presented
by The Eye Of The Tiger Management Group Saturday evening at
the Montréal Casino Cabaret. WBA and IBF Continental
Americas champion, Jukembayev (17-0-0) will fight the
Mexican Ricardo Lara (22-7-0) in the 10 rounds bout.
“I really want to maintain my progression in the
international boxing ratings, then, I got to stay
undefeated,” said Jukembayev before the weigh in. “I will
fight with intensity, concentration and determination to
keep my perfect pro record. I am impatient to be in the
The promoter of The Eye Of The Tiger Management Group, the
Montrealer Camille Estephan, said: “Originally, Jukembayev
was supposed to fight the Argentinian Maximiliano Ricardo
Veron (12-3–0), but Veron has been unable to obtain a visa
to come in Canada. Lara was supposed to face the Canadian
Steve Claggett soon, but Claggett is out because an injury.
Then, I proposed to Lara to fight Jiukembayev, and hje said
yes. I am positive we will have an intense main event.”
At the weigh in, supervised by the Québec Athletic
Commisision (Régie provinciale des sports de combat),
Jukembayev posted an official weight of 141.6 pounds, versus
139.8 for Lara.
The referee for the main event will be Steve Saint-Germain,
from Sorel, Québec, the judges will be the Montrealers Jean
Lapointe, Marie-Josée Guérin and Sylvain Leblanc.
Just before the main event, the super welterweight (154
pounds) Clovis Drolet, from Québec City, will face the
Egyptian MPonda Kalunga (7-2-0), who lives in Toronto.
The cruiserweight Artur Ziyatdinov (11-0-0), a Montrealer
Russian, will be opposed to the Argentinian Cesar Hernan
Reynoso (16-13-4) in a 10 rounders.
The middleweight Vincent Thibault (9-0-0), from Québec City,
will fight the Mexican Genaro Ortiz (10-7-2) in a eight
Jordfan Balmir, a super welterweight (154 pounds) from
Drummondville (a city located between Montréal and Québec
City), will face the Mexican Omar Andrade (6-6-3), the super
featherweight (130 pounds) Thomas Chabot, from Thetford
Mines, Québec, will make his pro debut in facing the Polish
Robert Niedzwiedzki (0-1-1), the heavyweight Adam Dyczka
(1-0-0), from Granby, Québec, will challenge the Mexican
Jose Manuel Paredes (3-4-3) and finally, in the only female
bout of the evening, the featherweight (126 pounds) Martine
Vallières-Bisson (1-0-0) will face the Mexican Adilene
Martinez Herrera (1-0-0).
At the weigh in, Drolet posted an official weight of 155.8
pounds, Kalunga 155.8, Ziyatdinov 180, Reynoso 178.6
Thibault 164.8, Ortiz 170, Balmir 153.6, Andrade 150.8,
Chabot 129, Niedzwiedzki 127.6, Dyczka 274.6, Paredes 263,
Vallières-Bisson 125.3 and finally, Herrera 123.7 pounds.
