Germain Improves His Pro Boxing Record

MONTRÉAL - The Montrealer super lightweight (140 pounds)
Mathieu Germain scored his 19th win in pro boxing (19-2-1),
beating Steve Claggett (29-7-2), from Calgary, Alberta, by
split decision Saturday night at the Hilton Hotel in Québec
City. The judges scored the bout 97-93 and 97-93 for Germain,
and the third judge scored the fight 96-94 for Claggett.
“Mathieu just delivered the best performance of his pro
boxing career,” said the promoter Camille Estephan, from The
Eye Of The Tiger Management Group in Montréal. “I think he

Just before the main event, the middleweight (160 pounds)
Clovis Drolet, from Beauport, Québec, improved his pro
record to 12-1-0, with a win by TKO in the second round
against Jordan McClue (3-2-0), from Curve Lake, Ontario.
In a female fight, the super bantamweight (120 pounds) Bree
Howling, from Calgary, stayed undefeated (3-0-0) in beating
the Montrealer Erika Jeannette Hernandez (5-7-1) by majority
decision of the judges.
The middleweight Alexandre Gaumont, from Buckingham,.
Québec, started his pro boxing on a good note, winning by
unanimous decision in four rounds against Mike Miller
(3-4-1), from Toronto.
In the opening bout of the evening, the middleweight Kenny
Victor Chery (3-4-0), from Joliette, Québec, won by majority
decision of the judges against Mathieu Duguay, from Québec
