Han Defeats Holm To Remain Undefeated

On March 2nd, 2024, Amanda Serrano was supposed to make her homecoming bout against Nina Meinke in Puerto Rico. It was called off at the last minute due to a severe eye injury (exposed cornea) Serrano sustained from a hair product reaction the day before, leaving her medically unfit to compete.

Fast forward to January 3rd, 2026, and Amanda Serrano 48-4-1 (31 KOs) was set to once again make her homecoming bout on Puerto Rican soil but once again a series of unfortunate events took place. Amanda’s original opponent, Erika Cruz, produced an atypical finding when tested. Enter Reina Tellez to cover the void. Reina Tellez 13-1-1 (5 KOs) couldn’t make weight on the weigh in, so there went Reina’s title aspirations, even if she wins the fight she lost her title opportunity on the scale.

Amanda did not let these obstacles get in her way as the Unified Featherweight as she defended her W.B.O. and W.B.A. titles. To make the bout more intriguing, the rounds were fought at 3 min. rounds.

The 1st round was definitely not a feel out round as the defending champ, Amanda Serrano was all over Reina Tellez. But Tellez would stand her ground and fight back.

The 2nd round was no different as it was back and forth action with Amanda getting the better of her foe.

Reina Tellez would not have it and fired back first in the beginning of round three, connecting well on Amanda. But Amanda would respond with some vicious body shots towards the end of the round that slowed Tellez’s aggression.

In rounds five and six we see Reina Tellez looking vulnerable and even back pedaling facing Amanda’s aggression.

The swelling in Serrano’s right eye was presenting some problems as Tellez is connecting more. Rounds seven through nine had great back and forth action and Reina Tellez would prove to be a worthy opponent to share the ring with the defending champion.

The tenth and final round was insane, both inside the ring and outside. Amanda Serrano was determined to drop or finish her foe, but Reina Tellez held her own and denied the local favorite her much desired KO win.

Amanda Serrano retained her W.B.A. and W.B.O. World Featherweight titles by a Unanimous Decision win and improved to 48-4-1 with 31 KOs. While Reina Tellez, unable to win the titles either way because she didn’t make weight, lost her undefeated record and her record now stands at 13-1-1 with 5 KOs.

In the 10th and final round, the frenzied fans fueled the island’s darling, and Amanda fed off that buzz. It was an emotional moment where Puerto Rico finally received and witnessed the Future Hall of Famer, not only on native soil but in the ring. Amanda Serrano has forged her legacy in the ring and her days in the squared circle may be numbered. Thankfully the fans, both young and old, witnessed their local heroine cement her place in the Hall of Fame and in action packed 3min. rounds, a first in women’s boxing.

By the mid-point of the battle, Stephanie Han 12-0 (3 KOs) the defending champ, had the bout in her favor. Maintaining Holly Holm 34-2-3 (9 KOs) at bay with the jab and countering well. Holm was aggressive and tried to impose her will, but her size advantage wasn’t helping her.

Han would not be bullied as Holm would use some rough house tactics. But in the 7th round an accidental head butt would bring the bout to an end. Going to the scorecards, Stephanie Han retained her W.B.A. World title via U.D. win and improves to 12-0, 3 KOs.

Maybe the writing is on the wall for “The Preacher’s Daughter” as the Hall of Famer Holly Holm falls to 34-3-3, 9 KOs.
