A Perfect Night For Eye Of The Tiger
It was a perfect evening for Eye of the Tiger at the Casino
de Montréal. In the main event, Arslanbek Makhmudov
delivered a stellar performance as he triumphed over
Poland’s Mariusz Wach. In the 39th second of the 6th round,
“The Lion” sent “The Viking” into dreamland, tallying up a
14th win right before the bell rang. Makhmudov now boasts
two titles: not only has he successfully defended his NABF
title but he has also claimed the heavyweight NABA belt.
Simon Kean took down Shawndell Terrell Winters in a
merciless battle. The 6th attack proved to be a turning
point in the pace of the fight as one after the other, both
pugilists were sent to the mat. The referee called it quits
1 minute 25 seconds into the 9th round after Winters was
knocked down twice in that same round. Kean can now take his
21st victory to the bank.
Furthermore, Alexandre Gaumont triumphed over Armando
Morales Gutierrez in the second attack when Gutierrez’
corner threw in the towel. The Buckingham boxer fought a
brilliant battle by throwing powerful combinations and
executing exemplary ring generalship while constantly
controlling the centre. Moreover, Thomas “The Ghost” Chabot
nabbed his 6th victory in as many fights when his opponent,
Maximino Toala, abdicated by the end of the first round.
Likewise, Jessy Thompson’s powerful protegé, Avery
Martin-Duval, quickly took charge by controlling the centre
of the ring and constantly putting pressure on Juan Esteban
Avila. From the get-go, Martin-Duval’s unrelenting offence
and power punches quickly took down his opponent. For his
part, Luis Santana faced a tough opponent for his hard-won
fifth career fight. In spite of his struggle, his potential
was on display as he overcame Brandon Garcia Orozco to keep
his spotless record. The curtain went up on Leila Beaudoin
who delivered a dazzling performance against Monica Selene
Alcala who dearly sold her hide. The Témiscouata boxer won
her first 6-round fight by unanimous decision.
