Abdullah Mason & Albert Bell Prepare For Saturday's
All-Ohio World Title Showdown
Abdullah Mason and Albert Bell kicked off fight week today
with a public workout at Zelma George Recreation Center in
Cleveland, just three days out from their all-Ohio world
title showdown.
Cleveland-born Mason (20-0, 17 KOs) will defend his WBO
lightweight world title against unbeaten Toledo native Bell
(28-0, 9 KOs) on Saturday, July 4, at Cleveland State
University's Wolstein Center.
They were joined by WBC featherweight world champion Bruce
Carrington (17-0, 10 KOs), who will defend his crown against
Mexico’s Rene Palacios (19-0-1, 10 KOs) in the co-feature,
and U.S. Olympian Tiger Johnson (17-0, 8 KOs), a Cleveland
native who will take on Christopher Guerrero (16-0, 9 KOs)
in a 10-round welterweight clash.
Also appearing were Mason’s brothers, Ibrahim Mason (2-0, 2
KOs) and Abdurrahman Mason (2-0, 2 KOs), who will compete in
separate four-rounders on the undercard. Ibrahim faces Erik
Hanley (1-2, 1 KO) in a super featherweight fight, while
Abdurrahman takes on Alvaro Huizar Cabral (1-0) at
lightweight.
Mason-Bell headlines TNT Sports and DAZN’s inaugural The
Fight event, a new monthly live boxing series, and will be
broadcast co-exclusively in the U.S. on TNT, truTV and DAZN,
and worldwide on DAZN.
Mason-Bell, Carrington-Palacios, Tiger-Guerrero and the
Scooter Davis-Carlos Ramos eight-round lightweight opener
will be broadcast LIVE beginning at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
