Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing enjoyed a standout weekend
across the country, as rising prospects Alex Vargas (15-0, 5
KOs) and Micky Scala (13-1, 7 KOs) each delivered statement
victories on back-to-back nights.
On Friday night, Vargas continued his unbeaten rise under
the bright theater lights of Madison Square Garden, earning
an impressive victory on one of boxing’s grandest stages.
Performing before an enthusiastic live crowd and an
international audience on ESPN+ at the famed venue, the Long
Island native once again demonstrated why he is considered
one of the area’s top prospects and a fan favorite.
Less than 24 hours later, Scala electrified his home-state
crowd in Phoenix, Arizona, delivering a spectacular
first-round knockout. The emphatic finish marked a
triumphant return from his hard-fought battle last September
at The Paramount, as he quickly reminded fans of his
explosive power.
The pair of victories highlighted the continued development
within the Star Boxing stable and underscored the company’s
momentum in building fighters on both regional and national
stages.
