McGirt, in fact, came in 1-1/2 pounds over weight against Little, which cost James a few dollars out of his pocket.

DeLaHoya vs. Mayweather Camp Notes: March 28
For Oscar De La Hoya and his new trainer Freddie Roach, the honeymoon is over and training camp is down to business. It is Roach’s first training camp in three years (last one with Mike Tyson in Phoenix training for the Danny Williams fight) where he had to leave his Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles, go on location, work with and set-up camp with just one fighter. “I am used to being at my gym 10 hours a day training a bunch of fighters,” said Roach. “Being only with Oscar in Puerto Rico gives me a chance to concentrate and focus specifically on the game plan for the fight, something I wouldn’t have been able to do as well as I can now.”

  Jacqui Snow's "K.O.'s"
Tuesday Report By "K.O." Jacqui Snow
Before I start this week's column, I'd like to offer an explanation to those who wrote me asking why I didn't review last Saturday's fight between Juan Manuel Marquez and Marco Antonio Barrera. I'll start with a confession of sorts. A few years ago, I made a special cable that allowed me to connect my computer's printer port to my satellite receiver's access card.  I'd program my card to "purchase" pay-per-view boxing matches (and Spice Network for my husband!) and it didn't cost me a cent. Back then, I never missed a fight, but now that sadly I have to cough up like everybody else, I think twice before ordering a PPV, especially after HBO stole fifty bucks from me for the Baldomir/Mayweather snoozer. This  time, with what I thought was the wisdom that comes from experience, I concluded that the Marquez/Barrera matchup might have been deserving of a $50 price tag five years ago, but not any more.   Kessler Clinics Andrade Through 12 -
It's No Wonder Calzaghe Ducks Him

Mikkel Kessler (now 39-0, 29 KO's) retained the WBA and WBC Super Middleweight Titles with an impressive 12 round clinic over Librado Andrade that was about as one sided as a fight can get. From the opening round, Kessler was just too fast and too elusive for Andrade who's punches were wide, slow and reaching. Kessler controlled the entire fight where Andrade appeared too anxious and tired early in the fight. Andrade was tagged often with both the right hand and left hook, even at times not defending himself taking clean shots to the head that snapped his chin into the air. Andrade however is one tough son of a gun and never stopped coming forward for the entire fight. Andrade took some massive shots that would have floored nearly any other fighter, including Joe Calzaghe who's been running scared of Kessler, but Andrade was never in enough trouble that the fight might get stopped. Kessler tired late in the fight which allowed Andrade to work a little in the final rounds, but Kessler's combinations were just too much for Andrade to block or dodge as Kessler went on to win a perfect fight with scores of 120-109 on all three cards. Andrade takes his first loss at 24-1 with 18 KO's.

Kessler vs. Andrade On HBO B.A.D. Tonight
Little Known California Fighter Set To Steal The Show

Written By William Trillo
Over the past year Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer and I have not seen eye to eye on a few topics, but I am pleased to say that after our phone conversation on Friday afternoon we both agree that # 1 WBC Super Middleweight Librado Andrade (24-0,18 KO's) is set to, as Schaefer said "Shock the World on Saturday night when he defeats WBC/WBA Super Middle Champ Mikkel Kessler(38-0,29 KO's)!"  Set as a 5 to 1 underdog in most gambling circles, Andrade has earned little if any respect from the boxing pundits at large. With the exception of a few of us in Southern California who have seen Andrade earn his way up from the trenches, most people have no idea who Librado is, the rest can't even pronounce his name.

Fight Day Interview With Trainer Wayne McCullough
His Thoughts On His Fighter Librado Andrade
and his Chances Against Mikkel Kessler

By William Trillo
It's not often that a trainer will take the time on fight day to speak to the media about his fighters Championship bout that is only hours away. But Wayne McCullough is no ordinary trainer and he was happy to field some questions for us only hours before Andrade and Kessler battle for 168 pound hardware.

Pound4Pound: Wayne, all the training is done and all there is left now is the fighting. Now that you have been through the entire camp as Librado's trainer, how do you see this fight going?

Wayne McCullough: I studied tapes and wrote down Kessler's weaknesses.  I posted it up on my gym wall so Librado could look at it every day.  I believe Librado will knock Kessler out if he does what we've worked on but it's all on him when he gets in the ring.  You can practice tactics for the fight every day in the gym with your trainer but once you're in there, it all has to come together.  However, I believe Librado will be the champion.
