The World Wasn't
Awaiting The Undercard
In Fact They Didn't
Care Less
Photos & Report By William Trillo It's not fair, but being a part of this undercard was a curse not a blessing, no matter what anyone was trying to tell you. No one, I repeat, No one had any interest as to what was going on at the MGM Grand last night until roughly 8:15 PM on Saturday night.
If you need any proof of that all you
need to do is ask anyone who saw the fights, who won the
undercard fights, chances are you will get a blank stare.
That's really too bad because both the
fighters who came out victorious on the PPV undercard are
both very talented and nice young men who will be seeing a
lot more of in the future.
Officially, in the semi-main event Featherweight Rocky Juarez defeated Jose Andres Hernandez in a 12 round scrap that barely drew applause from the distracted crowd that was filing into the house. Final scores of the bout read 117-110, 116-111 & 115-112 in a battle for the coveted WBA Fedelatin Featherweight Title.
In the opening PPV bout Super Bantamweights Rey Boom Boom Bautista & Sergio Manuel battled, bumped, grinded, bled and fell all over the canvas in a scrap that went from soup to nuts. When the dust settled Boom Boom took a truly hard fought unanimous decision with scores of 116-108, 115-109 & 115-109
This was a WBO Super Bantamweight Title Eliminator and now Boom Boom is set to take on fellow Golden Boy Stable mate Ponce De Leon. Bring plenty of yellow cards for that one, it's sure to be a foul fest extraordinaire.
