Dmitriy "Star of David" Salita
Speaks to Birthright Israel Alumni at
National Museum of American Jewish History |
|
Unbeaten junior welterweight sensation Dmitriy "Star of
David" Salita (22-0, 13 KO's) will speak to alumni of
the birthright israel program in the gallery of the
National Museum of American Jewish History where Sting
Like a Maccabbee: The Golden Age of the American Jewish
Boxer is on exhibit.
Salita, 23, is a native of Odessa, Ukraine and a
practicing Orthodox Jew. He fights out of Brooklyn, NY
and is promoted by DiBella Entertainment. Recently
Disney Pictures and producer Jerry Bruckheimer optioned
Salita's life story for the film Golden Boy. Scripted by
Gregory Allen Howard (Remember the Titans), it is based
on Salita's relationship with his trainer Jimmy
O'Pharrow of the famed Starrett City Boxing Club.
About the Exhibition: Between 1910 and 1940 there were
27 Jewish world-boxing champions at a time when the
sport was an integral part of American popular culture.
Sting Like a Maccabee: The Golden Age of the American
Jewish Boxer takes the gloves off on American Jewish
contributions to the cultural, economic and athletic
history of boxing.

rivals, WBC Light Welterweight titlist Arturo Gatti
and unbeaten top contender/former two weight world
champion Floyd Mayweather, square off on Saturday
night at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. The
"Whirlwind of Bad Intent" will also be the studio

Just a day or 2 ago someone sent
us and everyone along a story from an Austrailian
newspaper that said Kostya suffered a brain bruise
during his fight with Ricky Hatton. It was an
interesting piece of news, but it wasn't our story
and we certainly would not stoop so low as to
paraphrase the article and then put our name on it!!
As it turns out the internets
800,000 pound Gorilla did use and abuse that story
and now it looks as though it has come back to bite
them on the fanny!
While doing some research today

“Pretty Boy” Will Get The Win,
But Not The Fans This Weekend: |

Floyd Mayweather Junior will put his perfect (33 - 0
[22]) ledger on the line this weekend but there will be
a lot more than his “o” at stake in Atlantic City as
after years of bleating about the way he is being
snubbed by the fans little Floyd will be presented with
an opportunity to showcase his talent in front of
millions of fans the world over. Unfortunately the
fans in question all belong to Arturo “Thunder” Gatti
(39 - 6 - 0 [30])! So whilst this fight will present
Floyd with a showcase for his undoubtedly sublime skills
it is unlikely that he will expand his fairly limited
fan base no matter how dazzlingly he performs this
weekend, this is a shame as I personally feel that Floyd
is going to put on a superb performance in the ring but
it will be pre - empted, and ruined, by his negative
performance out of the ring during the build - up to
this fight.

DeGuardia Congratulates Tarver and Maddalone |

Joe DeGuardia, president of
Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing, would like to
congratulate his fighters, Light
Heavyweight World Champion Antonio “Magic Man”
Tarver and future heavyweight champion Vinny
Maddalone, for their sensational victories at
the FedEx Forum in Memphis last Saturday night.
Tarver, 23-3 (18), regained
his IBO Light Heavyweight Title, as well as
recognition as the Ring Magazine’s World’s
champion with an exciting but clear unanimous
decision over former champion Glen
Johnson. With the win, Tarver, once again
established himself among the top boxers in the
World.
On the undercard, Maddalone,
24-2 (17), continued his drive to the top of the
heavyweight division with a dominating TKO 4
over Dennis McKinney.
“Antonio Tarver was in
another fantastic war with Glen Johnson and he
showed tremendous heart to go with his
incredible ability,” said DeGuardia. “I’m proud
of Antonio for the dedication and toughness he
showed in defeating Johnson. There can be no
doubt now that he is the world’s best 175-pound
fighter. ”
As for Maddalone, DeGuardia
says he’s happy to see the partnership between
Maddalone and new trainer Al Certo paying off so
quickly. “Vinny has demonstrated his total
commitment to becoming a top heavyweight and
he’s very happy to be working with Al. He’s
becoming extremely disciplined and focused in
the ring and it was very apparent on Saturday,
as was his tremendous conditioning. Vinny has
improved enormously and I am comfortable that he
is attaining world status.”
DeGuardia would also like to
thank his co-promoters and everyone else
involved for making Saturday such an all-around
success.
“Star Boxing, Goossen-Tutor
and Prize Fight Promotions worked together and
presented an unforgettable night of boxing. We
had well over 11,000 enthusiastic fans up out of
their seats, cheering on the action. I’d like to

Just two
days before the best middleweight in the world, Bernard
Hopkins, puts his title on the line against top
contender Jermain Taylor, the best super welterweight in
the world, Kassim Ouma, will do the same when he squares
off against number one challenger Roman Karmazin on
Thursday, July 14, at the Orleans Hotel and Casino in
Las Vegas, Nevada.
This 12
round IBF 154-pound championship contest headlines a
very special edition of HBO Latino’s hit series “Oscar
De La Hoya Presents Boxeo De Oro” (10pm ET/PT), which is
presented by Golden Boy Promotions.
“I am a
true world champion,” said Ouma, a native of Uganda.
“That means I am the champion of all people around the
globe, and I am honored to defend my title on HBO

On
June 25 Arturo “Thunder” Gatti will put his WBC
Super Lightweight Championship on the line in one of
the year’s most anticipated bouts when he challenges
boxing’s best pound-for-pound fighter, WBC #1 ranked
contender Floyd Mayweather, Jr. Two of Main Events’
undefeated rising contenders will be featured in the
non-televised portion of the nine-bout fight card:
heavyweight Calvin Brock and jr. middleweight
Giovanni Lorenzo.
Brock (25-0, 20 KO’s) will compete in a 10 round
bout against 41-bout veteran Kenny Craven (26-15, 22
KO’s). In his last bout on April 23, 2005, Brock
out-hustled and out-punched former world-title
challenger Jameel McCline to win a unanimous
decision (W 10). The Brock-Craven bout will be the
final contest before the televised portion of the
June 25 card begins.
Lorenzo (17-0, 10 KO’s) will box in an eight round
bout against 46-bout veteran Ron Weaver (29-15-2, 22
KO’s). Lorenzo has knocked out six of his last
seven opponents. In his last bout on April 2, 2005,
Lorenzo starched Rafael De La Cruz in two rounds to
win the Dominican Republic Middleweight Championship
(TKO 2).
Also appearing on the undercard will be undefeated
Paterson, NJ prospect Henry Crawford (6-0, 1 KO) who
will compete in a six round welterweight bout

In the sweltering heat of London's York Hall on
Sunday night, Graham Earl put on a tremendous
performance to not only defend his British title but
to take the Commonwealth crown as well, climbing off
the canvas to dramatically stop Kevin Bennett and
win the "Lightweight Bragging Rights" of Britain.
The venue's capacity crowd had been pushed to the
breaking point by a full undercard of the type of
competitive matchups Maloney Promotions are known
for. A savage give and take English Light
Heavyweight title struggle between Peter Haymer and
Tony Oakey immediately preceded the main event and

Kaddour,
18-2 (9 KOs), proved to be one of the more popular
fighters on “The Contender,” despite twice losing
five-round decisions on the canceled show. Born in
Lebanon and raised in Denmark, he now hails from Humble,
TX, which is ironic because ‘humble’ he ain’t! This
excerpt is from his biography on “The Contender” website

Good
looking yet extremely vain, Ahmed plans to be a top
model and movie star as well as a world champion boxer.
He thinks his opponents don't take him seriously because
he is "so pretty." He claims the truth is that the

Reyes
(24-3-2, 15 KOs), of Oxnard, Calif., returns to the ring
fresh from a ninth-round knockout victory of Santa
Maria, CA favorite, Jose Antonio Ojeda, for the vacant
California State jr. welterweight title. Ojeda had
entered that fight riding an eigh-bout unbeaten streak.
Reyes’ record is highlighted by a 10-round unanimous
decision over former Mexican lightweight champion Omar
Bernal on Sept. 20, 2003. The judges scored it 97-93
and 95-93 twice. In the eight-round rematch on July 23,
2004, Reyes again prevailed, this time by scores 79-71
and 78-72 twice. In his 2005 debut, Reyes registered a
first-round knockout over Francisco Maldonado on Jan.
28, 2005, in Oxnard, Calif.
Burton (21-3, 11 KOs), of Benton
Harbor, Mich., returns for the first time since his
incredible fight against Ebo Elder at Chumash Casino
Resort on the December 17, 2004 edition of SHOBox, a
“fight of the year” candidate. Burton was ahead on two
of the judges’ cards going into the final round when
Elder, with both eyes nearly swollen shut, dramatically
scored two knockdowns en route to knockout victory.
Burton who had captured the NABO lightweight
championship with a 12-round split decision over
Francisco Lorenzo on December 5, 2003, has vowed to
return better than ever. A three-time Silver Gloves

The George Khalid Jones-“Fabulous” Freddy Moore main
event, as well as the Courage “No Limit” Tshabalala-Robert
Wiggins co-feature, are true crossroads fights on
Plymouth Rocks, presented by NER promotions, July 1 on
ESPN2 Friday Night Fights from Memorial Hall in historic
Plymouth, Massachusetts.
Jones (22-2-1, 13 KOs), the reigning NABA light
heavyweight champion, fights former NBA title-holder
Moore (30-3, 27 KOs) for the vacant USBA crown. Jones,
fighting out of New Jersey, is rated No. 5 by the WBA,
No. 10 by the IBF and WBC, and No. 14 by the WBO. A
victory for him in the 12-round main event may position
him for a long awaited title shot against WBA champ
Fabrice Tiozzo or IBF king Clinton Woods. Another
possibility is a high-profile match against either
Antonio Tarver or Glen Johnson.

NER promotions has appointed veteran Mark Vaz as Vice
President of Boxing Operations, NER president Rick
Brutti announced today.
Vaz has extensive experience in boxing, starting as an
amateur boxer and including trainer, manager, site
coordinator and cutman. In addition to serving as Glen
Johnson’s cutman and Carl Daniels’ co-manager, Vaz was
Jermain Taylor’s manager for the middleweight
contender’s first three years as a pro.

The Junior welterweight division currently
packed with great talent "The Hitman" Ricky
Hatton 39-0, 29 KO's from Manchester,
England making a mark of history just a few
weeks ago by dethroning the divisions king
for many years Kostya Tszyu, surely is on
top of his game in a very marketable
position to defend his IBF title against any
of the top champions from the United Stated.
Hatton looking carefully at a delicious
match to be against Puerto Rican superstar
Miguel Cotto 24-0, 20 KO's from Caguas,
Puerto Rico.
Cotto last bout ripping through Mohamad
Abdulaev at Madison Square Garden in New
York, Clearly did not fling when asked in
the press conference after the fight about
going to Manchester, England to fight Ricky
Hatton.
Cotto was clear that it is up to his staff
and him so let's do it. Both fighters work
very hard and would provide an electrifying
inside fight with a clear coming forward
fight both testing each others body.
Cotto clearly liked the sound of the match
up either if it was in England or in the
states, Hatton last fought at Detroit, MI.
in 2000 a win against Gilbert Quiros so it
is anybody's guess if Hatton would be
attracted be a great offer to bring him back
to the states.
Many boxing vans would view this fight as a
forth of July holiday, a lot of action and
fireworks from both fighters. it's anybody's
division and far from having an undisputed
champion. I spoke to Top Rank promoter Bob
Arum he made it clear that he would go were
ever Cotto wants to go, the kid is great.

from the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey
when Arturo Gatti squares off against Floyd Mayweather,
Jr. in a highly anticipated junior welterweight title
bout. Both fighters are looking to further establish
their legacy with a big win in the biggest fight of
their respective careers. Mayweather (33-0-0, 22 KOs)
has participated in the majority of the trash talking
leading up this bout, showing more disrespect for an
opponent than he has for any of his previous victims.
“Thunder” Gatti (39-6-0, 30 KOs) has remained a
consummate gentleman throughout the promotion, more
often than not refusing to take part in anything to
degrade the reputation of the sport he loves.

the style and power that Olando Rivera brings to
the ring it is like when the bell rings a
launching to it's impact he does not waist any
time to get the work done. An impressive record
five-time world champion super lightweight
kickboxer unified all the division titles first
time in kickboxing history.
Clearly Rivera
wanting a better life for his family leaves
New York for Florida with a kickboxing record of
32-3-1 (20 KO's). That is were the Pro Boxing
began facing Victor Calderon in 1998, A strong
man just got stronger, piling up 5 wins and a
WBC Americas title Rivera was certainly on his
way to better success. Rivera walked through
fighters Etienne Whitaker and Danny Santiago he
currently holds a record of 15-3-2, (7 KO's).
Rivera believes
that great discipline and conditioning is the
values and the keys to my success at the age of
41. He would like nothing more then to touch
gloves with current lightweight champion from
Tampa, FL. Antonio Tarver. a turf war for
respect honor and the title. Currently managed
by John P. Karoly, Jr. he will have his next
defense at the Lehigh Valley SportsFest in
Allentown, PA. on July 9th.
staying busy is
the key for Rivera. Presently working closely

Being sandwiched in between Championship fights in the
Superstar filled Jr. Welter bouts and another Mike Tyson
catastrophe, Saturday nights fight from Memphis barely
registered a blip on the radar screen in the days and
weeks leading up to the fight, but by the time the
judges cards were read, and declared Antonio Tarver (now
23-3, 18 KO's) as the new Light Heavy Champ, everyone
who witnessed this one knew they had watched two men
give it everything they had.
In a
rematch of last years split decision brawl that went in
the favor of Glen Johnson (42-10-2, 28 KO's), these
fighters stepped into the ring and gave is 12 rounds of
action that they both can be proud to be a part of.

Tarver Exacts Revenge
With Unanimous Decision
In A Sequel That Outdoes The Original - 3rd Fight? |

Antonio Tarver (now 23-3,
18 KO's) was rightfully awarded the decision
this time around in a much more heated and
aggressive fight with Glen Johnson than their
first meeting. After a slow 1st round, the fight
looked to be headed towards the more cautious
route as their first fight went, but in round 2,
Johnson shook up Tarver and the fight turned
into a really good one from then on. In round 3,
Tarver managed to take control for a portion of |
|
|
the fight, out landing
Johnson, using quick combinations and tying up Johnson
on the inside. Tarver had appeared to throw everything
at Johnson with the exception of a kitchen sink, and
Johnson just kept coming forward. In rounds 8 and 9,
Johnson finally managed to get in as Tarver was getting
tired and could not keep up the pace. In round 10,
Tarver showed the heart of a champion and got back in
there, smothering Johnson on the inside, landing his
fast combinations to the body and head. Then in round
11, Johnson hurt Tarver who began to back pedal the
remainder of the round. Johnson took advantage of that
and pounded on Tarver who appeared defenseless on the
ropes. In the
|
12th and final
round, Tarver had one thing in mind and that was
to not let this one slip away as he came out to
exchange with Johnson, then tie him up after
every final punch. Johnson could not resume
where he left off in the previous round and
Tarver held his way to victory on unanimous
scores of 116-112, 116-112 and 115-113. Johnson
falls to 42-10-2 with 28 KO's. It's one a piece
now and the urge for a 3rd and final bout
between these two looks very promising. |

Quartey Survives Knockdown To Win Unanimous Decision
Over Phillips |
|
After an uneventful 2 rounds
where Verno Phillips staggered and shook and looked to
be on the verge of something, Ike Quartey (now 36-2-1,
30 KO's) turned things around and got his rhythm
back and began to outbox a tiring Phillips. Ike
was back, for that moment! Then it happened!
In round 9, a confident Quartey who was
outboxing and pounding on Phillips from rope to
rope, decided to keep his hands low and a huge
left hook from Phillips |

|
dropped Quartey on
his back.
Quartey rose on extremely shaky legs and if the
fight was stopped at that moment, there wouldn't
have been much to protest over. But the fight
resumed and Phillips came right in, attacking
the hurt Quartey. Ike staggered again, but
remained calm and started throwing punches of
his own which staggered Phillips to the corner
to end the round. In the final round Ike
appeared on slightly less, but still shaky legs,
went to work on Phillips who just did not have
enough in the tank to put Ike away. Ike cleared
the round and won a unanimous decision with
scores of 95-94, 95-94, and 96-93. Phillips
falls to 38-11-1, with 20 KO's. |
On a side note,
Harold Ledderman finally got back into
his rhythm as well, scoring the fight right for once
(96-93) in a really long time, however his idiocy
continues to baffle the rest of us when he said a slip
in that round 9 should have been scored a second
knockdown in favor of Phillips. During the replay of
Quartey staggering, but CLEARLY tripping over Phillips
feet twice, Ledderman says "If That's not a knockdown, I
don't know what is."
You're absolutely right Harold, you don't know what a
knockdown is.

The Next Step of an
Incredible Road Trip for Johnson: |

Glenn Johnson must wonder where it all went right at
times over the past year; his rise from journeyman to
Ring Fighter of the Year has been incredible for boxing
in general and the Light-heavyweights in particular. For
all his talent Roy Jones could not breathe life into
this ailing division so it is all the more ironic that
two fighters who legitimately vanquished
him are making the division hot right now. Unfortunately
the governing bodies do not agree so we have the
farcical situation of seeing the two men regarded as the
best in the division squaring off as former champions.
In some fights though belts are a minor irrelevance and
this is certainly the case with Glenn Johnson Vs
Antonio Tarver as this really is a meeting of
the best. Last years bout brought some fresh impetus
into this often derided division, even giving it its own
fairytale in the form of the affable Jamaican Johnson;
now it is time to consider what the rematch may hold.

Pacquiao Stuns Navarro

Bobby Pacquiao (brother of
Manny), overcame the odds
and may have put serious thought in the mind of Carlos
Navarro if he still wants to fight anymore. From the
start, an apparent out of shape Navarro and a serious
minded Pacquiao went to war, trading shots. Pacquiao
(now 23-11-3 with 11 KO's) appeared to get the better of
a tiring Navarro in round 3. In rounds 4 and 5, Navarro
began to back pedal as his big bombs had no affect on
Pacquiao. In round 6, a 'clear as day' body shot put
Navarro down and the referee wrongfully ruled it a low
blow and took an immediate point from Pacquiao. In round
7, Pacquiao relentlessly attacked Navarro and a small
push after a punch put Navarro down. After rightfully
not being ruled a knockdown, Navarro showed no intention
of wanting to get up. After repeatedly asked to get up
by the referee, he had no choice but to start counting,
counting it as a knockdown. Navarro finally up to resume
the fight, goes down again from a similar sequence as
Pacquiao hurts Navarro, but a push behind the head makes
it easier for him to fall. An obvious frustrated Navarro
appeared to want the referee to either take another
point from Pacquiao, or disqualify him, but he did not.
However, Navarro was given an excess amount of time to
continue and once finally on his feet again, Pacquiao
charged in and pounded Navarro to the body and head and
this time Navarro took a knee on his own. The referee
started the count and Navarro yelled the count out along
with him, counting himself out as well. With the win,
Pacquiao wins the WBC Continental Americas Super
Featherweight Championsship. Navarro falls to 26-4-1, 21
KO's.

ABC Rules Against the WBC |
|
|
After reviewing Fernando Vargas’ protest against
the WBC, the ABC (Association of Boxing Commissioners)
has announced today that they are in agreement with
Vargas that the WBC was incorrect to “anoint” Ricardo
Mayorga as the 154 lb mandatory challenger without
forcing him to compete in an elimination bout.
Fernando Vargas and former champion Javier Castillejo
argued that since there was no legitimate mandatory
contender, Castillejo should have been allowed an
optional defense against Vargas. The WBC stripped
Castillejo for refusing to recognize Mayorga as his
mandatory challenger.
Below are a few of the comments contained in the ABC’s
letter.
Applying these WBC Rules and Regulations it
becomes clear that Mayorga, as the number 2 rated
challenger in the division (not "the highest rated
challenger of the division" or "the number one rated challenger") cannot be
designated as the mandatory challenger by approval of
the WBC Board of Governors. . .; and the only means by
which Mr. Mayorga could be designated as the mandatory
challenger is by winning an elimination bout.
In view of the above, the Association of Boxing
Commissions opines that it is inappropriate for a
sanctioning organization to "anoint" a mandatory
challenger; instead such a status must be earned. Under
the rules and regulations of the WBC, status as a
mandatory challenger can be earned by way of winning an
elimination bout or by being rated as the number one
rated challenger and having the Board of Governors
either approve, or vote, that number one rated
challenger as the "mandatory".
While the ABC does not opine herein on the
propriety of Mr. Mayorga being ranked No. 2 by the WBC,
it is noted that, since
December 13, 2003,
Mr. Mayorga has lost two of his last three bouts; that
one victory was against an unranked boxer; and that Mr.
Mayorga has been inactive since
October 2, 2004.

Just How Good Was Sonny Liston?

In the week when Tyson quit on his stool the name Sonny
Liston has been bandied about a fair amount, generally
with a disparaging mention of his quitting versus Ali
attached to it. Yet for those in the know the Liston
that looked listless twice versus Ali was not the
fighter who murdered the heavyweight division as a
contender. Liston at his peak was a pure thoroughbred, a
fighting machine who had a blend of balance, timing and
innate punching power that signified him as a heavy
threat to any fighter in history. Yet we seldom get to
see the real Sonny Liston in the ring just as we seldom
hear about the man he could be out the ring; so I want
to describe a few of his fights leading up to the wins
over Patterson in an attempt to inject some much needed
respect into our understanding of this champion.

Jimmy Burchfield’s Classic
Entertainment & Sports, Inc (CES) tonight conducted the
final press conference and official weigh in at the Hi
Hat Lounge for tomorrow night’s (Friday, June 17)
“Providence’s Prime Time Fights” in The All-New Theatre
at the Dunkin’ Donuts Theatre in Down City Providence.
CN8, The Comcast Network and CES have an agreement to
broadcast six boxing shows during the next 12 months,
commencing “Providence Prime Time Fights” which will air
on CN8, SUNDAY, June 19 9 PM/ET. CN8’s Ed Berliner will
provide blow-by-blow commentary for all of the six New
England boxing shows. Former five-time world champion
Vinny Paz will serve as color analyst. The CES package
is part of CN8’s Primetime Fights series, a monthly show
featuring New England and Mid-Atlantic boxing events.

Jose Rivera Moving On Up

Former World Boxing
Association welterweight champion Jose Antonio Rivera
(37-4-1, 24 KOs) has announced that he has decided to
move up from the 147-pound welterweight division to
154-pound junior middleweight.
Rivera, of Worcester (MA), recently signed a three-year
promotional agreement with Don King Productions and he
reportedly will fight on the Rahman-Barrett August 13
card in Chicago as a junior middleweight.
“I walk around at 168-172 pounds and making 147 draws
the life out of me,” Rivera explained his decision to
move up to junior middleweight. “Losing 25 is becoming
impossible. I would have loved to fight (Luis) Collazo
in a rematch if we could have done it in July. But our
rematch wouldn’t have happened until the fall and I
can’t starve myself anymore. There are a lot of great
fights for me at 154 and I’m confident that Mr. King
will give me the opportunity to fight for a world title
again.”
Rivera noted that, in the past as a welterweight, he was
supposed to fight two of today’s top 154-pound
contenders - Fernando Vargas (1998, Jose ruptured a
tendon in his wrist) and Ricardo Mayorga (April, 2004 -
Mayorga weighed 6 ½ pounds overweight). “I’d really love
to fight Mayorga for a title in Worcester,” Rivera
noted. “It’ll sellout as soon as it’s announced. I’ll
fight any of the champions or big names - (Kassim) Ouma,
(Daniel) Santos, (Alexandro) Garcia, (Cory) Spinks,
(Travis) Simms or (Javier) Castillejo.”

Gatti: He’s
never going to do that with me.
Moretti: Maybe
it was a reflection on the quality of the opponent
he was fighting.
Gatti: All of
the cockiness, all of the talking he does…once he
steps into that ring, once he steps into that ring,
once he gets to Atlantic City, his whole attitude is
changing because he knows what he is going to face.
McGirt: The
crowd was so small that he thought he was in the gym
in a sparring match.
Moretti: The
only way Lampley heard him was because there was no
one in the audience watching him fight.
Gatti: There
is no way in the friggin’ world that he is going to

Boxing2005: The 140 pound division has had some big
fights over the past few weeks, where do you think
you will be slotted after your fight with Mayweather?

my victory, I have been fine at 140 for a while and

Angeles to formally announce Navarro vs. Pacquiao on
ESPN2 Friday, June 17 at the Table Mountain Casino
in Friant, California, just 15 minutes north of
Fresno.
Today' Carlos Navarro (26-3-1,
21 KOs) & Bobby Pacquiao (21-11-3, 9 KOs), got
together with the media to give a bit of a prelude
to the fight coming up this Friday night. Also in
attendance was Middleweight Joilson Dos Santos
(8-1,6 KO's) who will be featured on the card in the
semi main event.
Tickets for this action-packed
night of boxing are on sale now, and are priced at

Nate Campbell just
lost a 10 round split decision to Francisco Lorenzo at
the St. Petersburg Coliseum in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Lorenzo (now 22-3, with 12 KO's) was just more active
and kept the constant pressure on Campbell. A knockdown
which was scored a slip for Campbell and a point
deduction for a low blow by Lorenzo didn't appear to
help when the scores of 94-95 for Campbell, 97-92 and
96-93, both for Lorenzo, were read. Campbell falls to
26-4-1, with 22 KO's.
