Ticket Demand for De La Hoya-Mayweather at TicketsNow Reaching “Super” Proportions

May 5th Fight on Par with Ticket Prices for NFL’s Super Bowl

According to TicketsNow, the world's leading online marketplace for premium event tickets, the May 5th bout between Oscar De La Hoya and Floyd Mayweather Jr., one of the most anticipated and hyped boxing matches in recent times, is turning into an event on par with the Super Bowl in regards to ticket pricing and availability.  Currently at TicketsNow, tickets to the fight in Las Vegas range from $1,220 to $14,375, with prices expected to escalate as the event draws nearer.

"We're talking Super Bowl prices here,” said Jennifer Swanson, TicketsNow spokesperson.  “(The fight) is one of those experiential events, a very big deal not only for boxing fans but for those interested in rubbing elbows with VIPs – an occasion to see and be seen.  This event transcends the sport.  As the Kentucky Derby and Super Bowl lure fans who normally wouldn’t watch horse racing and football, this event is attracting legions of viewers because of its sheer magnitude."

Swanson also indicated that ticket demand for the fight will likely top that of the Kentucky Derby, which is scheduled for the same day.

Since tickets to the fight have been made available on TicketsNow, De La Hoya-Mayweather sales have made the bout the second most expensive live event to attend (on average).  The following list of premium events illustrates the average prices of tickets purchased on TicketsNow:
