Did you see the report that quotes WBC Heavyweight Champion Deontay Wilder’s manager saying they want to unify the division by fighting WBO Champ Joseph Parker next?

Allow me to cut to the chase.

As soon as Wilder saw WBA and IBF Champ Anthony Joshua TKO former unified Champion Wladimir Klitschko in the best 11 rounds of boxing seen in the heavyweight division in quite some time..well…Deontay made a B-line for the land down under. He literally went to the furthest corner of the world to duck Joshua.

There is nothing more that needs to be said. The challenge speaks for itself.

Deontay Wilder’s next fight will be his mandatory defence against his number one ranked challenger: Bermaine Stiverne. You can than Uncle Mauricio for that one.

Joseph Parker’s next fight will be a rescheduled mandatory defence against his number one ranked challenger, Hughie Fury. As Parker’s promotion team appear to be in severe financial distress that fight might now take place in England. It doesn’t really matter as Parker will almost certainly lose wherever it’s held.

Anthony Joshua’s next fight is probably gong to be a rematch with Wladimir Klitschko at the end of this year. If the Ukrainian decides to retire then IBF number one ranked boxer Kubrat Pulev will get his shot.

Luis Ortiz is threatening to sue the WBA if he doesn’t get his chance to fight Joshua for that version of the world title soon.

It is very, very unlikely there will be any heavyweight unification fights this year.

Changing the subject slightly, if you want to see a really entertaining recent fight between two heavyweights, take a look at the Dillian Whyte v Derack Chisora scrap. Two fairly decent boxers giving everything for 12 rounds.

I am told if all parties agree then Wilder and Parker is a go NOW

No chance, which is a pity as that could be an entertaining fight.
